NCRHA Expands National Championship to include 20 Division II Teams

The NCRHA is expanding the Division II field at the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Championships to 20 teams!
This decision was made for several reasons, and is not intended to be a 1-year deal. Some reasons were that it is very difficult to choose teams 12-16, potentially leaving out quality teams, there are a lot of Division II teams across the country so the number selected to Nationals was disproportionate, and evidenced by University of Miami winning Division II in 2011, coming in as an alternate bid. Another reason is that we had always hoped the Junior College Division would have as many as 8 teams, but currently there are only 5 Junior Colleges participating, which will result in a 3-4 team division.
We looked extensively at the block schedule to make sure this would not adversely affect teams in any division. We are excited about this decision and wanted to make sure we made this announcement before any Member Organization's Regional Championship Tournament, 2 of which start this weekend in the GPCIHL and SECRHL.
We have also posted information online regarding the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Championships, including hotel information, block schedule information, cost information, etc. More information will be forthcoming.
The information is posted at: http://ncrha.org/page.php?page=nct13home.
Best of luck to all teams in your Regional Championships and we look forward to making the selections on Selection Monday, March 11, 2013.
