Neumann University Captures Division I Title

Northeastern Repeats In Division II

Neumann University Captures Division I Title
Neumann University skated past West Chester University this afternoon by a score of 7-0 to claim their 5th Regional Championship in school history. The title is the first for Neumann since joining Division I following the 2010 season.  Neumann will be heading to Fort Myers, FL in April to represent the ECRHA in Division I. West Chester failed to defend their 2012 title, meaning that the ECRHA has not had a repeat champion in DI since Towson won three in a row (2004-2006).

Northeastern University became the third Division II team to repeat as champions, defeating the University of Delaware 7-3 in the final. Binghamton (2001-2003) and Neumann (2008-2009) are the only other teams to repeat. Northeastern will be heading back to nationals this season, after making a run to the final four last season, they should be considered one of the early favorites for a deep run. If Delaware secures an at-large bid to nationals, they will be heading to nationals for the first time since 2002-2003.

Baruch College went undefeated at regionals, beating Shippensburg University 5-2 in the Championship game after posting a perfect 4-0 record in round robin. Baruch is in its first year of competition within the ECRHA and they have grown all season long en route to the title. With there being no national championship for Division III, Baruch's season will finish with them being on top of the ECRHA.

In the B Division, West Chester University won their 3rd straight B Division Championship with an 8-5 victory over Slippery Rock. West Chester who finished 3rd in the regular season put things together in time to clinch the auto-bid to nationals. Slippery Rock is a first year B team that rallied late in the semifinals, winning in overtime before falling just short against West Chester.
