With the opening regular season weekend completed, this 2019-2020 ECRHA regular season continues in Dracut, Massachusetts over this weekend! A total of 11 different teams in Divisions 2 and 3 will be apart of this weekend’s slate and officially begin their season.

The University of Massachusetts will begin their quest of repeating as Regional Champions in Division 2 this weekend in front of their home crowd. The Minutemen are set to matchup with Rowan and RIT on Saturday and will close out their weekend action against Stony Brook University on Sunday. UMass and Stony Brook matched up five different times last season with most recent matchups being at the Regional and National Championships. The Seawolves of Stony Brook came just one overtime goal away from advancing to their first Regional Championship game since 2007. This season, they’ll have Matt Lazaro as their new mainstay between the pipes after shadowing Rory Buckley the past two seasons. Despite this, Jason Wally will be returning after leading Stony Brook in scoring last season. The Seawolves will play their remaining two games of the weekend against RIT and Northeastern on Saturday. Out of all the teams that are in D2 this season, just one did not make Regionals last season. The Rowan Profs will have their hands full this weekend as they take on UMass, Northeastern and the RIT Tigers. Both the Tigers and Huskies of Northeastern will clash yet again this weekend after Rochester came out on top with an overtime victory in pre-season. Their last three games against each other have needed to be decided in extra time with the Tigers winning two of the three. RIT will play the remainder of the D2 teams in attendance while Northeastern get Rowan and Stony Brook on their remaining schedule.

Like UMass, the Endicott Gulls will also begin their season at home with hopes of repeating in Division 3 at the Regional and National level. Both Endicott and Yeshiva did not participate in the pre-season games earlier this month, but will get to play each other on Sunday. This will be a rematch of an Elite 8 matchup at the National Championships back in April. Before that game, however, the Gulls will play against Long Island based clubs St. Joseph’s and Hofstra. St. Joseph’s will open for the 2nd straight season against Endicott and will follow up with games against Boston, Vermont and Yeshiva early Sunday morning. As for the Pride of Hofstra, they too will begin their regular season against the Gulls along with matchups against Boston and Vermont on Saturday as well. Boston’s only two games of the weekend will be against those Long Island clubs while the Vermont Catamounts get games against those two teams and Yeshiva on Sunday. Cornell was originally scheduled to partake in this weekend’s games, but have forfeited and given Endicott and Yeshiva free wins.
