NCRHA Matchups of the Week - November 19-20, 2022
November 17th, 2022 at 7:55PM November 18th, 2022 6:08PMNCRHA Division I Matchup of the Week
Slippery Rock University vs. Farmingdale State College
Saturday, November 19, 2022 – 11:00am and 8:00pm
Season Head to Head: 0-0, teams have not yet met
Undefeated they both sit, 3-0 heading into this weekend’s event. Obviously, they have not played each other. Slippery Rock played Ohio State, Michigan State and Robert Morris in the Grove City, PA event, while Farmingdale played Stony Brook, UMass and Endicott. Pretty fair comparison, a full slate of DII opponents for both of them in Grove City.
Ian Edwards and Dylan Zelonka lead the Slippery Rock Pride with over 4 points per game. Goaltender Logan Johnson made all 3 starts in Grove City, leaving with 3 wins and a 2.33 GAA. The Farmingdale Rams are led by Matthew Hawkins, Sean O’Donnell, and Luciano Signoretti who are averaging 3 points or more per game. Farmingdale’s Justin DeSaro played 2 of the team’s 3 games in Grove City and has a 3.00 GAA.
This weekend in addition to their doubleheader, Rowan is in the mix with a doubleheader against Farmingdale and Slippery Rock. We will definitely see after this weekend how ECRHA Division I is shaking out!
NCRHA Division II Matchup of the Week
Robert Morris University vs. Temple University
Sunday, November 20, 2022 – 11:00am
Season Head to Head: 0-0, teams have not yet met this regular season
Robert Morris and Temple have not met this season, and Robert Morris sits 5 points ahead of Temple in the ECRHA Division II standings. But just a win or two can swing Temple up Robert Morris’ way. Robert Morris is 4-2-1 on the season but is a minus 5 in goal differential. Temple is 2-4 but is a plus 3, which is probably a more telling statistic heading into this game than the wins and losses.
Robert Morris has some other tough matchups this weekend including games against Northeastern and Farmingdale (DI). Temple will also face Northeastern and Penn State who sit above them.
NCRHA Division III Matchup of the Week
University of Colorado vs. Kansas State University
Saturday, November 19, 2022 – 4:00pm
Season Head to Head: 0-0, teams have not yet met this season
Colorado’s move to the SCHL this season has proved fruitful so far, sitting in 1st place with a 6-0 record. They face Kansas State this weekend in Lakewood, CO as multiple SCHL teams come to visit, plus MCRHL’s Kansas State. Kansas State is 0-5 so far this season, but since neither team has played any of the same opponents, it’s impossible to tell what this matchup will be like.
Colorado has won all of their games by 5 goals or more, 4 of the 6 by 8 goals or more actually. Kansas State has had 2 1-goal losses, to Illinois State and to Missouri S&T, who most MCRHL DIII teams are struggling against. Should be a great matchup in the Rockies!
NCRHA Division AA Matchup of the Week
Slippery Rock University AA vs. University of Massachusetts AA
Sunday, November 20, 2022 – 8:00am
Season Head to Head: 0-0, teams have not yet met this season (Slippery Rock AA defeated UMass AA 11-4 in pre-season exhibition)
Both Slippery Rock and UMass have played just 3 games so far this season, and it is Slippery Rock with the slight edge (3-0 tied for 1st vs. 2-1 and 3rd place). Both teams scoring is nearly identical, so this should be a great game on Sunday morning. The 2 teams did meet in pre-season and Slippery Rock dominated that matchup, but this is regular season now, in an early season game that matters now and will matter later this season.
Slippery Rock also faces Northeastern and Stony Brook (4th and 5th place teams, respectively) and UMass faces the same two opponents plus Farmingdale (tied for 1st place).
NCRHA Cross-Divisional Matchup of the Week
Henry Ford College (JC) vs. Bethel University (DI)
Saturday, November 19, 2022 – 7:00pm
Season Head to Head: 0-0, teams have not yet met this season
Henry Ford College enters the weekend 4-0, outscoring MCRHL opponents Michigan State (DII) and Ohio State (DII) 46-12 so far this season (doubleheader against each). Dustin Foran leads HFC in scoring with 12 goals and 15 assists, followed by Tyler Blaszkowski with 4 goals and 14 assists and Dylan Pattenaude with 12 goals and 3 assists. It’s a tough schedule this weekend for Henry Ford, with 5 games to play, most of them good tests. They will start off playing Lindenwood AA Black, then Bethel (DI), followed by Lindenwood (DI) twice, and finish up with Lindenwood AA Gold. We will really see what the Henry Ford Hawks are made of after this weekend.
Bethel enters the weekend 1-3, with their 3 losses coming in a triple header with Lindenwood just 2 weekends ago. Bethel defeated Lindenwood AA Gold that same weekend in a great overtime game. Bethel is led by Christopher Mahaffey (3 assists), Ryan Ro (1 goal, 1 assist) and several others with 1 goal as well. In addition to Henry Ford, Bethel will face Lindenwood (just once this weekend), Ohio State (DII) and Michigan State (DII) at their home rink, Bethel Wildcat Arena.
