Feasterville, PA - The Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association announced Saturday the creation of two memorial scholarship funds, the ECRHA Ron Dax Scholarship and ECRHA Jeffrey Mosenson Scholarship. These scholarships, among the first of their kind in roller hockey, will provide financial assistance to qualified applicants beginning with the 2003-2004 ECRHA season. The exact qualification requirements and application procedures will be released at a later time. The first collegiate roller hockey scholarship was awarded by the Southwest Collegiate Hockey League in 2002. The ECRHA looks to grow these scholarships through charitable donations. For more information, contact ECRHA President Rebecca Breitel. The ECRHA Ron Dax Scholarship will be awarded to a current ECRHA player, and is named in memory of Ron Dax, former president of the roller hockey club at Penn State University. A dedicated team representative and asset to the ECRHA, Ron was killed in a car accident en route to an ECRHA event in 2001. The ECRHA Jeffrey Mosenson Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming college freshman every year, and is named in memory of Jeffrey Mosenson, whose service not only as official ECRHA trainer, but to the entire ECRHA community and beyond, will be sorely missed following a fatal car accident January 28.
