19th Annual Columbus Day Event Underway!

For the 19th straight year, the ECRHA starts the season at The Sportsplex in Feasterville, PA. In total, 51 preseason games will be played over three days, before the regular season opens next weekend in Warwick, RI.

Back-to-Back National Champions, Neumann University opened the season by skating past Rowan University 8-2. Neumann's offense was lead by a 5-point effort by Shane Fox (2g,3a).

In Division 2 action, Villanova skated past National Qualifier Stony Brook 6-5, using a 4-goal second period to open a 5-1 lead before hanging on for the victory. Villanova finished 6-10-2 last season, so the victory was exactly what they needed to open the campaign on a positive note.

In the biggest surprise of the night, Hofstra (D3) earned a hard fought 2-1 victory over defending Regional Champion Neumann (D3). The win for Hofstra was the first in team history, dropping the previous eight games by a combined score of 88-13. Hofstra finished 2-14-0 last season, so the early season victory should work wonders for their confidence moving forward. Hofstra returns to action on Saturday at 9am against Rowan.
