#10 Mike Absalom had a big weekend for the Tigers with 10 goals and 2 assists

This past weekend Towson University’s Division One Roller Hockey team headed to Feasterville, Pa. for the last few games of the first semester. Coming off a setback weekend last week, Towson looked to capitalize on a four game weekend with eight huge points up for grabs. First up was long time rival Buffalo, in what became a scrappy yet dominating performance by the Tigers. Newcomer freshman Alex Brunstrum started the scoring off early with a shorthanded goal on a beautiful pass by senior defenseman A.J. Nisbet who himself had a goal and three assists. The game would get choppy in the third with some extra work after numerous whistles with each team battling for power. Offense men Frank Lonigro and Mike Absalom each netted a goal, with new addition senior defenseman Keith Catalano adding the last two goals of the game securing a big 6-0 victory. Goaltender Kyle Fensterer was a wall in net stopping all 23 opposing shots for his first shutout of the year.

Next up was Division II move up Pittsburgh in a rematch from a week early. In the previous meeting Pittsburgh edged Towson in hard-fought 6-4 game. It would be more of the same this week as Towson was handed their only defeat of the weekend despite a tremendous four-point effort by Towson forward Mike Absalom (3g, 1a).

Later that same day Towson was back at it with earlier opponent Buffalo for a morning/night double header. This game would be all Towson from the start once again, with Mike Absalom netting his first goal of the game less then a minute in. His goal was unassisted, as was his second goal just minutes later in the first period. Defenseman A.J. Nisbet had a pair in the second, one coming on the Power Play, along with a great effort from junior Drew Fitzhughwho had a goal and two assists as the Tigers skated to a 5-2 victory, sweeping the weekend matchup with Buffalo.

The last game of the weekend for the Tigers was Brockport Sunday morning. Towson would continue their strong playwith yet again two first period goals from Mike Absalom. Much like the entire weekend this game would be the Absalom show with the offense man netting four goals and an assist taking first star of the game. Drew Fitzhugh added a pair and two assists as the tigers rolled past Brockport 7-2. Kyle Fensterer was once again fantastic in net turning away 19 of the 21 shots on net.

Towson will be back at it next semester.
