For the 6th straight time,
Binghamton turned away Delaware, this time behind the performance of
Matthew Meier and Andrew Seader.
Delaware found themselves in trouble
early against Binghamton, taking 3 minor penalties in the first
period. With Doug Holley in the box for roughing, Meier scored his
first of three goals off a Seader feed to give Binghamton a 1-0 lead
half-way through the first.
After killing off minors to both Kevin
Rafferty and Eric Downes, it looked like Delaware had some momentum,
but it was short lived. Andrew Staake and Christopher Bocker scored
two straight goals to open up a huge 3-0 lead with just under two and
half minutes to play in the second.
Delaware got on the board late in the
period with a Gerrard Gallo power play goal, his fourth of the season
to cut the lead to 3-1. However, as it was all game, the momentum was
erased with a costly penalty by Doug Holley.
Just 31 seconds into the third period,
Andrew Seader scored on the power play to restore Binghamton's three
goal lead.
It was a lucky bounce that gave
Delaware some much needed hope as a Justin Kozak slap shot deflected
off Taylor McCracken into the net for his fourth goal of the season.
Just 17 seconds later Gallo scored his second goal of the game, to
cut the lead to one at 4-3.
Ryan Hart restored the two goal lead
for Binghamton with a rebound goal at 3:31 of the third, but Eric
Downes had the answer scoring his 4th of the season and
cutting the lead back to 5-4.
However, that would be the last answer
Delaware would have as Meier scored two goals to seal the victory
over Delaware, the second of which was into an empty net.
Ryan Davis made 20 saves and took the
loss in goal.
