Buffalo Hands Rhode Island 10-1 Defeat

Suffolk Stuns Rutgers 5-3, Rowan Clinches Top Seed

Glastonbury, CT - Eric Gunderson and Bryan Feiler scored two goals and added two assists each as Buffalo skated past Rhode Island 10-1. 
 
Rhode Island got the start they wanted when Trevor Butterfield made a nice pass to Anthony Benning, sending him alone and after a backhand-forehand deke he spotted his team a 1-0 lead.

Buffalo got the goal back on a breakaway, Benjamin Kozar beat the defenseman and slid the puck one handed through the goalies pads to knot the game at one with the shorthanded goal.

Bryan Feiler gave Buffalo the lead when his wrist shot from the top of the circle beat the Rhode Island netminder over the blocker just after a power play opportunity expired.

Benjamin Kozar added his second goal of the with just over a minute remaning in the first period, tapping a bouncing puck past the goalie for a 3-1 lead that Buffalo would take into the intermission.

It was Greg Brick who strck next, scoring a power play tally to give Buffalo the 4-1 lead early in the second frame.

Danil Vrana and Matt McNeil added goals just 13 seconds apart to extend the lead to 6-1. Eric Gunderson added one final tally for Buffalo giving them a 7-1 advantage after two periods of play.

Eric Gunderson, Benjamin Kozar and Bryan Feiler added third period goals to finish the scoring.
 
With the win, Buffalo moved ahead of West Point for 6th place in the standings. With three games remaining, Buffalo can move as high as 4th in the league.
 

 
In earlier action,  James Rieger, Brian Price and Ryan Riker each scored in the final 1:50 of the third period to turn a 3-2  deficit into a 5-3 victory for Suffolk over Rutgers. As a result of the Rutgers loss, Rowan University clinched the top seed for the playoffs in just their first season in Division I.
