Harrisburg, Pa -  Francesco Candelmo scored 4 goals to spark West Point and help the Black Knights snap a 6-game losing streak by skating past Brockport 8-4 on Saturday night.

Joseph Chappius got Brockport started on the right track, using the man advantage to stake Brockport to a 1-0 lead. However, it didn't take long for West Point to use a power play of their own to tie things at one. Thomas Gomez connected off a feed from Jeffrey Lesmeister for the power play goal and a fresh start to the game.

West Point capitalized on a Brockport turnover to take a lead 2-1 when Francesco Candelmo fired home a rebound of a Robert Gryfinski shot that Patrick Keyes had a hard time corraling in front of the net. It was another Brockport miscue that allowed West Point to take a two goal lead into the intermission. With Brockport on the power play, the point-man misplayed the puck and sent Matthew Riopelle in on a breakaway. Riopelle came in all alone and blew a powerful wrister over Keyes glove for a 3-1 lead.

Brockport erased the mistake, scoring on the power play early in the second. Jeremy Wiseman found Joseph Chappius alone on the point and Chappius blew a slap shot past the glove of the West Point goalie to cut the lead in half.

In a familiar patter, Brockport found the equalizer when Chappis connected for his third tally of the game and second of the period. With Brockport on the man advantage, Chappius took a slap shot from the near boards and sniped the far upper ninety to tie things at 3-3.

It was a West Poin breakdown that allowed Brockport to retake the lead for the first time since the 4:29 mark of the second period. After a turnover in the neutral zone, Chappius and Mike Vogel broke in on a 2 on 1, Chappius made a cross crease pass to Mike Vogel who found room just under the cross bar to put Brockport up 4-3 with just over three minutes remaining in the second period.

With just 1:37 remaining the period, West Point found the back of the net to tie things at four. On the goal, Francesco Candelmo worked out the left corner looking for options in the slot, when nothing presented itself, Candelmo fired a quick wrister at the near post and caught Keyes leaning, sneaking the puck just between his arm and the post.

West Point regained the lead just 3:09 into the 3rd period when Steve Gonzales fired a seeing eye wrister through traffic in front that found the back of the net.

Fifty-six seconds later, West Point found the back of the net again with Candelmo chipping a redirection into the back of the net. It was once again Candelmo 18 seconds later, giving West Point a commanding three goal lead with his fourth goal of the game.

Jeffrey Lesmeister capped the scoring for West Point.
