Harrisburg, Pa - Johnathan Lucente scored 2 goals and added 2
assists to push Neumann closer to a playoff berth with a 4-2 win over
fellow bubble team Brockport.
With the victory,
Hofstra has been eliminated from playoff contention, while Brockport or
Neumann could still be on the outside looking in.
Lucente
got the scoring started after receiving a nice backhand feed from
Andrew Ryder. David Castor started the play with a pretty feed from deep
inside his own zone.
Castor extended the Neumann
lead to 2-0 with a blast from the point that found the far right corner
of the net with the man advantage in the second period.
Brockport
used a 4 on 2 advantage to cut the lead to 2-1, Joseph Chappius found Jason Sitter down low, who beat the sprawling Neumann goalie for the
tally.
Lucente scored his second goal of the game
to put Neumann back up by two goals, Anthony Ehinger waited until the
last possible second before dishing the puck to Lucente at the back post
for the goal and 3-1 lead.
It was the power play
that once again gave Brockport life as Andrew Steffan scored after
collecting his own rebound and cutting the deficit to one goal.
Neumann
wasn't fazed, and showed why they held the advantage. With Brockport
pressing for the equalizer, Neumann used a 3-on-1 to finish off the
game. A pretty passing sequence had Bob Robinson burying the final
goal, with Lucente and Ehinger picking up the assists.
