The University at Buffalo Wings D1 team finished off the first semester in Lemoyne this past weekend, completing an undefeated first half. They started off the weekend slow with their first non win of the season, when a hardworking West Point team tied them 2-2. The West Point goaltender made 32 saves and some key shot blocks gave the Black Knights a lead late in the 3rd period until Walser sniped one off the post to tie it up. Their second game was against Towson who has given UB trouble in the past and this matchup would be no different. The Tigers jumped out to 5-1 lead but 11 seconds later Mike Kaminska answered with his first goal of his UB career. UB capped their comeback win with their 5th unanswered goal with 34 seconds left. Their final game was against Penn State. PSU and UB were deadlocked at 2 enter the second. After that it was all UB. Buffalo would score 3 before State would put one in. The Wings would respond with 6 unanswered goals. True Freshman Chris Kendall had 3 goals and 6 assists in the effort. He jumped into 2nd place in points, almost securing his spot in ECRHA All-Star game.
The UB Wings B squad had a rough weekend in Lemoyne. They started off against powerhouse West Chester. They would find themselves down a man when MLRH bruiser Nick Narchus showed his muscles and got tossed for fighting. Late in the second, tied at 2, goaltender Al Bagwell would get injured and WCU would pop one into the open net. Bryan Feiler would suit up mid game and get his 3rd goaltending appearance in the past two years. They would eventually fall 6-2. Their only win of the weekend would come as a forfeit win by Cornell who was unable to make the trip. The Wings final game would be against undefeated Penn State. They dressed veteran Ben Kozar as goalie and he would keep it tied at zero through one. Penn State would go up 2-0 on UB until Feiler would wait the goalie out and pop one upstairs to cut the lead in half. UB was dominating play in the 3rd period until 5 minutes left when they were called on two penalties. Up 4 on 2, Penn State would take advantage and put the game out of reach, 3-1.
