Old Bethpage, NY - Victor Masino scored 2 goals and added two assists and Chris Cisek earned his first career shutout in a 7-0 victory for Rutgers.
The first period started out in a classic battle of cat and mouse with nobody taking the bait. With the scored tied at zero, and a man just coming out of box for Hofstra, TJ Murphy found Jared Reisman with a cross ice pass, Reisman made no mistake firing the puck through the legs of Hofstra goalie Andre Robitaille for a 1-0 lead.
The lead held until the intermission, but it didn't take long into the second for Rutgers to extend their lead to two goals. Victor Masino set up Mike Diorio for the goal and the commanding two goal lead.
In the third period, Rutgers used the man advantage to add to the lead. Jared Reisman fed Victor Masino who then dished it off to Christ Notley for a slap shot from the point that found the back of the net and a 3-0 lead for the visiting Scarlet Knights. Hofstra had an oppurtunity to get one back just a few moments later, however, Chris Cisek stood tall in goal to preserve the three goal margin.
With all the momentum in the game, Rutgers took things to the next level, scoring three goals in just under two minutes to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Matt Schwakoff, Victor Masino and TJ Murphy scored the goals for Rutgers. Hofstra had a chance to respond with a Rutgers player in the box, but Victor Masino stole the puck and broke in on goal, firing a shot high glove, just under the cross bar for the seventh goal of the game for Rutgers.
Chris Cisek held off the Hofstra attack through one final power play and held on for his first career shutout. Cisek made 21 saves and picked up his sixth victory of the season.
