Harrisburg, PA - Tyler Walser had 5 points and Matt McNeil recorded a hat trick to lead Buffalo past West Point 8-1.

Buffalo's vaunted offense picked up where it left of last season, scoring two goals before the game was even five minutes old. Tyler Walser had a hand in both, first setting up Chris Kendall and following with a feed to Alex Durinka. Durinka fired a heavy wrist shot that was in an out of the net quicker than you can blink and just like that Buffalo lead 2-0.

Thomas Gomez gave West Point some energy when he beat the Buffalo defense and goalie shorthanded to cut the lead in half just 29 seconds into second period. Alex Durinka scored just moments after a Buffalo power play ended to push the lead back to 3-1, Durinka caught the West Point netminder leaning and fired a heavy wrister short side and into the back of the net. Bradford Witt was the star of the second period, turning aside 19 shots on goal for West Point and giving his team and opputurtunity to attempt a comeback in the third.
West Point thought the had scored to cut the lead in half, but Buffalo goalie Alex Christie caught the puck just before it crossed the line. After the big save, Buffalo responded with three goals in 51 seconds to put the game out of reach with a 6-1 lead. Matt McNeil started the flurry, beating the West Point goalie five hole and Tyler Walser finished it with back to back goals. Matt McNeil scored twice more and finished the scoring as Buffalo closed out a 8-1 victory.

Alex Christie made 19 saves and earned the win in goal, while Bradford Witt stopped 33 in a losing effort.
