Shippensburg Escapes Temple 5-4
Raiders Sweep 4 Game Series In Feasterville.

With the victory, Shippensburg (7-2-1) has now won four straight and completed their first four game weekend sweep since Feb 12-13 2005. With the loss, Temple (1-7-0) has now lost 7 of 8 after posting a 3-0 record in the preseason and is off to its worst start in school history.
Tyler Anderson (7-2-1) earned the victory in net for the Raiders making 35 saves on 39 shots in his best performance of the weekend. Eric Nguyen (0-6-0) made 40 stops on 45 shots in the losing effort.
Jordan Klien (2g,2a) got things started fast for the Owls, beating Anderson stick side just 46 seconds into the game. Trailing 1-0, the Raiders used a pair of power play goals from Jeff Kulp (1g,3a) and Tom Cavanaugh (2g,2a) to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
Sniper Adam Lyons (2g) got the Owls going quickly to start the second period. With Brian Schnepp (1a) in the penalty box for Hooking just before the end of the first period, Lyons found the twine just under the cross bar to knot the game at 2-2. Schenpp, on his very next shift found defenseman George Gallen (1g) wide open in the slot for a one-time goal and a 3-2 lead. Tom Cavanaugh added his second power play tally for a 4-2 lead after two periods of play.
For the third straight period, Temple came out of the gate faster and before the Raiders could get their feet wet the game was tied 4-4. Lyons and Klein scored 36 seconds apart in the first three minutes of the third, Lyons goal coming with the man advantage.
Temple then got into penalty trouble giving the Raiders a 4 on 2 and a chance to steal a victory. After killing off the first minor, Cavanaugh found a space to slid a pass cross rink to a streaking Sean Sheridan (1g,2a) who found the back of the net for a 5-4 lead.
Temple never threathen again as the Raiders play solid defense and limited the Owls to only 5 more shots on goal after giving up 10 in the first five minutes of the period.
Game Notes: Shippensburg was 4 for 6 with the man advantage and has now struck 7 times in 11 chances in the previous two games…Temple was 2 for 3 with the power play…Shippensburg outshot Temple 45-38…Kyle Grizzard registered an assist in the second period.
