Shippensburg Skates Past Vermont 4-1
Improve to 4-2-1

goals from four different players and Tlyer Anderson made 24 saves in a 4-1 win over the University
of Vermont. The win was the first
for the Raiders (4-2-1) since defeating Binghamton 7-5 on November 1st.
The last time Shippensburg met Vermont (0-3-1) , Vermont scored five
goals in the final period, including three in the final minute and a half for
the come from behind victory. This time
things would be different with Anderson (4-2-1) making 10 saves on 11 shots in
the third period.
Ian Markovitz (0-3-1) was strong in net for Vermont , making
39 saves on 43 shots. Markovitz made several remarkable saves, including a
sprawling glove save on Tom Cavanaugh (1g, 2a) in the second period.
Sean Sheirdan (1g, 1a) and Jeff Kulp (1g,1a) both had strong
games for the Raiders. Kulp scored the lone goal in the first period off a nice
feed from Cavanaugh.
Sean Sheridan scored
off a one-time pass from Kulp near the mid-way point of the second for a 2-0
lead. Bob Hilton (1g) followed up with a
rebound goal just under a minute later for a comanding 3-0 lead. With the period winding down, Sheridan and
Cavanaugh connected again to give the Raiders a 4-0 lead after two.
Sean Brady (1g) scored the lone goal for Vermont just 1:46
into the third period after intercepting a pass and beating Anderson on the
breakaway.

Notes: Shippensburg did not commit a penalty… Shippensburg outshot Vermont
43-25, including 15-6 in the first period…Shippensburg was 1 for 5 with the man
advantage. Bob Hilton scored the first goal of his career in the second period.
