A New Semester

Weekend #3

GPCIHL  January 22nd, 2008 at 1:37AM  February 13th, 2008 1:45AM
The Bears came into the second semester revived and refreshed.  After losing Josh Wilkes and Paul McIntyre, the Bears were blessed with the return of Pete Chilcutt.  Chilcutt, who departed for UMSL for a semester, was often seen in Springfield near the Skateland rink during the fall stirring rumors of his imminent return.  The second semester began with the rekindling of an earlier battle with Truman State.  The Bears held a 2-1 edge late into the third period lead by Chilcutt, Vasquez and freshman phenom Cory Crump.  However, Truman State tied the game 2-2 late were it ultimately ended.  Visions of a rematch not ending in a tie in the Regional finals began to be pondered immediately thereafter.

Subsequent to the Truman State game the Bears played to Wildcats of Kansas State.  A classy and dedicated team Kansas State is always a pleasure to play.  The Bear came away with a sound victory.  The Bears were then surprised when a Southeast Missouri State gave them a run for their money on Sunday morning.  The Bears managed a 7-4 win lead by Zach Jacob. Thereafter, the Bears reeling from this game played perhaps their best game of the year in defeating Souther Illinois 11-1.  The Bears were rallied by Cole Murphy before the game who expressed the fact that he had disdain for all of his teammates on an equal basis and it was time to get serious.  Zach Dangos, Chilcutt and Andrew Palazzolo erupted with a multitude of offense.  Murphy was stellar in net.
