– The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks Inline hockey team seems to be greatly improved from their 6-13 record last season. With the departures of former captain Jon Rykman (Transfer) as well as goaltender Sean Potts, forwards Derek Munster and Greg Crittenden all of who graduated, and backup goalie JD Cundiff; the Redhawks roster seems surprisingly strong because of the lack of recruitment shown in years past. However, a new system has been put into place by Southeast captain, Jeff Crenshaw and Jacob King. Since day one of the off-season, the new regime has been looking to bring new hockey talent to SEMO. With the addition of nine freshman and one transfer student the Redhawks have a full roster for the first time in years. “We just wanted to go out and get our name out there in the hockey community. We didn’t just want talented players, but we wanted guys that love the game just as much as we do,†Crenshaw said.
Although there will be many different players sporting the redhawk on their jersey this year, you will see some familiar faces. The team is led by the upperclassmen of Jacob King, Nick Hertel, Kyle Fanger, Brad Horton, and Jeff Crenshaw. In between the pipes for Southeast will be junior transfer student, Luke Phillips, who is coming over from

standout Joe Lemcke, and St. Mary's former ice blue liner, Jim Lohse. Freshman forwards JJ Baker, Brett Larkowski, Evan Brosal, Dave McClenahan, and Kyle Bira will also play key roles in the success of this years team. Junior Matt Peters also is placed on the roster after playing only three games for Southeast in the 2005-2006 season as a freshman.
The Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks look to be a strong force in the DII bracket of the Great Plains Hockey League this season and wont accept anything less than getting an invitation to the national tournament sometime in March.
