Roller Hockey Preparation Summer Workouts

Coach Bob Raynor says:

As many or all of you know by now, I will be running a dry-land workout every Saturday in August (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th). The program I'll be using is the Eric Hyden routine that I've distributed to all of my former players by hand and one that I've posted on the board. We'll also be adding in some speed and agility drills that complement this intense workout.

This workout is not going to be easy or fun if you don't come prepared. So, for anyone in this club who wants to dramatically improve his speed, balance and stamina, I strongly encourage you to show up for these workouts. You will, however need to prepare, so I would suggest doing 50-100 squats, 50-100 lunges, and 1-5 minutes of wall-sits, every-other day until then.

If you're using the gym to prepare, I would recommend doing circuits such as 1 minute sets of leg extensions, leg curls, squats, sit-ups and push-ups. To do this, you use a weight that is lighter than normal and you try to do continuous repetitions for 1 minute, then immediately jump to another station. This more accurately mimics the way you use your muscles on the rink. If anyone has any questions, please contact me and let me know.
