In what has been an incredible improvement over their first year, the Stony Brook Seawolves have been crowned ECRHA Northern Conference Champions, with a record of 11 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties. The boys from 'Brook are prepping for regionals, in which they will be placed in a pool with the #5, #8, and #11 seeds. As of now, it looks as if the Seawolves will be playing Temple, Cornell, and Hofstra. This season Stony Brook has defeated the Temple Owls in preseason 6-2, split the season series with Hofstra, and has yet to play Cornell.
In the B Division, the Seawolves are clinging to a final 8th seed to round out the B playoffs. If Delaware wins their last two games, they will clinch the last seed and the 'Wolves will be out of a playoff spot. No matter the outcome, Stony Brook is proud of their B squad's first year, and hope that they will get a chance to make a run in the playoffs.
Weekend Highlights:
- After starting the season 1-2-1, Stony Brook managed to finish the season strong, going 10-1-1, their only loss a 2-1 battle against Hofstra.
- SBU goaltending allowed only 4 goals in three games this weekend.
- Stony Brook scored 4 shorthanded goals this weekend, three coming against SUNY Brockport in a 10-1 win.
