Lindenwood Roller Hockey Rolls to Regular Season Title

St. Charles , Mo. â?? Feb. 12, 2007 â?? Lindenwoodâ??s DI team ran their current winning streak to 76 games with three wins last weekend.  They won their 5th straight Great Plains title by going 16-0-0 in conference play.

Lindenwoodâ??s DI team went 3-0-0 this weekend, but they were tested in their first game of the weekend versus St. Charles C.C.  The Lions held on to win the game 6-4.

The Lions trailed 1-0 going into the second period, but Brandon Marchand ( St. Peters , MO) tied it up with a power play goal. 

Jeff Hill ( St. Peters , MO ) put the Lions up 2-1 on a feed from Kyle Gouge ( St. Peters , MO ).  But the lead was short lived as the Cougars tied up the game 2-2 at the end of the second period.

Greg Thompson ( Bayport , NY ) scored a power play goal early in the third to put the Lions up 3-2.  He scored on a pass from Travis Fudge ( Springfield , MO ).

St. Charles answered with two quick tallies to regain the lead 4-3.  With seven minutes to go in the game, Lindenwoodâ??s streak was in jeopardy.

Derek Tunison ( Warren , MI ) scored the equalizer on a pass from Thompson.

Fudge scored the game winner two minutes later.  He was set up on the play by Tommy Bruce ( Mt. Sinai , NY ).  Hill scored an empty net goal late in the third to secure the 6-4 win.

The Lions then dominated their next two opponents of the weekend.  They beat Missouri-Rolla by the score of 10-0 and Mizzou 11-1.

Lindenwood B Gold suffered their first loss of the season in a 3-4 loss to Meramec C.C. Gold.  The Lions remained on top of the division with a 15-1-0 record and can clinch the division title if they win out in their last two games.  Tom Mueller scored two goals and Brad Sweeney added the other tally in the loss.

The Lions B Gold team defeated Illinois State B 9-0 and SIU-Carbondale B 11-1 to finish weekend play at 2-1-0.

Lindenwood B Black also went 2-1-0 on the weekend.  They won their first two games of the weekend before dropping the third game to UMSL B by the score of 2-7.  They beat Illinois B 6-3 and Meramec B Black 7-2.

The Lions B Black team ran their overall record to 8-8-0 and maintain 5th place in the division.

 All three teams return to action March 3rd thru 5th with games at the Matteson Tri-Plex. The B teams finish up regular season play and the DI team plays in their regional finals. Check the roller hockey page at www.lindenwood.edu to find game times.
