Tigers in Feasterville for All-Star Weekend

The second half of the season for Towson Roller Hockey was filled with many unforgettable moments for both the Division 1 and B teams, along with plenty of excitement for the pack of dedicated Tiger fans.

The semester began in Voorhees , New Jersey , with the Tigers getting back into action before spring classes had even begun. The Division 1 squad looked sharp early, getting off to a 2-0 start with wins over Penn State and Nassau Community College . Two emotional losses followed, with the Tigers falling to Suffolk Community College and Neumann College . The B team was not greeted by success early, as they were defeated in three straight games by Suffolk , Penn State , and Rutgers . Ending the weekend on a more positive note, the B team defeated Temple as the Tigers prepared for All-Star Weekend in Feasterville the following Saturday.

In Feasterville, the D1 and B Tigers began their All-Star weekend against a well-respected opponent from the Midwest , The University of Michigan. The D1 Tigers defeated the Wolverines in convincing fashion, while the B Tigers let an early lead slip away en route to a loss against a competitive Wolverines B team. Returning to regular season play, the D1 Tigers fell to Rhode Island and Rutgers but will undoubtedly see one or both of the teams again during Regionals play. The B team found its rhythm and gained significant momentum with wins over Hofstra Blue and SUNY Binghamtom. For the first time, the ECRHA instituted a fan and player based online voting system. Tiger Captain Jim Tamburino ( Hicksville , NY ) and sniper Greg Pantaleo (Center Moriches, NY) were voted as D1 All-Stars, while defenseman Cory Twibell ( Carle Place, NY ) and all-around threat John Ahern ( Merrick , NY ) were named to the B Division All-Star team.

On the road for the third weekend in a row, the Tigers rallied behind one another as both teams combined for 5 wins and 2 losses. The D1 team earned wins against Pitt and Delaware , but lost to Buffalo by a goal. The B team picked up important wins against West Chester , Buffalo , and with a last second goal by Joe Oâ??Brien ( Merrick , NY ), the Tigers won as the horn sounded against Delaware . The only loss of the weekend came against Drexel, but the B team, as well as Division 1, found themselves in first place in the Southern Conference as the regular season came to an end.

With Regionals set for early March rapidly approaching, the D1 Tigers are looking for an unprecedented fourth straight ECRHA Championship, while the B Tigers hope to reverse the result of a loss in the final round of last years exciting playoff run.
