Rutgers
Team Rolls into All Star Weekend
After dropping three games last weekend at the Flyers Skate Zone in
Voorhees
,
NJ
, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights roller hockey team looks to
rebound this weekend and put themselves into a position to qualify for
the ECRHA post season. With a mediocre 5-6-1 regular season record, the
Knights are not in prime position to qualify for the Regional
Championships in March. However, a strong showing at All Star Weekend
could reverse the Knightsâ?? fortunes and put them right back into the
playoff mix. To do so, the Knights will have to earn points from
conference rivals
Delaware
,
Maryland
, and
Towson
. Rutgers last met these teams back in November, winning games against
Delaware
and
Maryland
, and dropping a tight one-goal contest to
Towson
. The Knights hope to have the same success against these conference foes this time around.
The
Knightsâ?? playoff push will be led by All Star starters Andrew Brodsky
and assistant captain Robbie Fulton. With both players having
tremendous seasons, Brodsky and Fulton led the voting for the ECRHA
Division 1 Southern All Star Team. Finishing tied for 4th
overall in the voting was captain Anthony Tsigourakos, who has posted
career numbers thus far this season. Anthony will be joined in the game
by his brother Joseph, who will be goaltending for the Division 1
Southern Conference All Stars in the second period. The game will be
played on Saturday, February 3rd at 6:15 PM at the Sportsplex in
Feasterville
,
PA.
The
Rutgers Roller Hockey Club is also well-represented in the B Division
All Star Game. Sitting on top of the ECRHA B Division with a 10-1-1
record, the Rutgers B team has been the standard for excellence this
season. The B Knights have had contributions from every player on the
roster in convincing victories over
Towson
,
Penn
State
,
Suffolk
, and
Buffalo
. Three Rutgers B players have been rewarded for their efforts and were voted to represent
Rutgers
in the B All Star game this coming weekend. With his great
hands and a devastating shot, sophmore sniper Collin Brady was voted
into the game as a starter. Brady will be joined by teammates Dan
Chambers (F) and Caleb Towne (G) in the B All Star Game. The game will
be played on Saturday, February 3rd at 7:30 PM at the Sportsplex in
Feasterville
,
PA.
