Lindenwood Roller Hockey Continues Winning Ways

â?? Jan.29, 2007 â?? Lindenwoodâ??s DI team ran their current winning streak to 73 games with four wins last weekend.
â??We lost a few guys due to academic problems for the J-term break and came out a little flat after a month off, but we showed some resilience and got the job done this weekend,â? said head coach Ron Beilsten.
The first match up of the weekend proved the toughest of the weekend for the Lions. Lindenwood squeaked out a 4-3 win over cross-town rivals

. Brandon Barnette (
Los Angeles
, Ca.) opened the scoring for the Lions on an assist from Michael Theifault (
Lake Worth
, Fl.). Kyle Gouge (
St. Peters
,
Mo.
) put the Lions on top 2-0 with a power play goal assisted by Derek Tunison (Warren, Mi.) Tunison gave the Lions a 3-0 lead early in the third period on a pass from Tommy Bruce (
Mt.
Sinai
,
NY
). After a
St.
Charles C.C. goal, Bruce scored an unassisted goal to give the Lions a 4-1 lead. Lindenwood goaltender Brian Coleman (
St. Charles
,
Mo.
) was barraged with shots late in the game due to Lindenwood penalties, but he helped the Lions hold on to a 4-3 win.
The Lions breezed through the rest of the weekend match ups with a 10-0 win over Missouri-Rolla, a 9-2 win over Mizzou and a 1-0 forfeit win over
Illinois
.
â??It took us a while to get going this weekend, but we got back on track and finished the weekend strong. Overall we are happy with our play and we look forward to building our team to make another run in the post-season,â? said captain Greg Thompson.

Middle Tennessee State

State and Meramec C.C.
The Lindenwood B-Gold team continued their unbeaten streak this season with three wins last weekend. The Gold team defeated the Lindenwood B-Black team by the score of 9-4 to open the weekend. They followed that win with an easy 11-1 win over Meramec-Black.
The Gold team finished the weekend with a 5-3 win over third place Meramec-Green. Josh Williams (
Wentzville
,
Mo.
) opened the scoring for the Lions with a power play goal from Dave Easterbrook (
Brampton
, Ont.). Brett Robinson (
Florissant
,
Mo.
) added to the lead with a power play tally from Tom Mueller (
Florissant
,
Mo.
). Mark Ell (
St. Charles
,
Mo.
) finished the scoring in the first period on a feed from Mueller. Williams added his second tally of the game which proved to be the game winner. Mueller added a power play goal late in the second to give the Lions the breathing room they needed for the victory.
The Lindenwood B-Black team finished their weekend with a 2-1-0 record. The lone loss came in a 9-4 loss over the LU B-Gold team. The team bounced back with quality wins over Missouri-Rolla B by the score of 9-2 and a 10-0 win over SIU-Carbondale B. They currently sit in fifth place in the division and next weekend play three of the four teams in front of them in the standings.
â??Our B teams overcame a lot of adversity this weekend with the shortened benches, but we are happy with our results. Our Gold team has set themselves up nicely for the stretch run, and our Black team has a huge upcoming weekend,â? said B team head coach Jon Hilke.
