The ECRHA lost one of itâ??s own this past weekend. Keith R.
Cerrato, 24, was killed when a car struck him as he was crossing a
street. Cerrato was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he
was pronounced dead. Cerrato was a member of the Hofstra University
Roller Hockey Club. He competed alongside his teammates and friends on
the Hofstra Gold B Team. This season the Pride had posted a 2-5-1
record with Cerrato. In all Cerrato played 30 games for Hofstra,
amassing 10 goals and 13 assist for 23 points.
A show of support for their lost teammate and friend, a Facebook
group was dedicated in his lasting memory. Over 400 friends, teammates
and family members have joined the group within a week of its creation.
It is in this group that he was described as, â??the man who never
stopped smiling.â? It was on this dedicated group where a friend
described Cerrato, â??One of our friends and classmates, Keith Cerrato,
has come to a sad way to early end. Keith was someone who always had a
smile on his face and I never heard him say a bad word about anyone.â?
With this being the holiday season, we ask everyone to be thankful
for their families and friends, and the opportunity to play this great
game of hockey. Please keep the Cerrato family in your prayers when you
sit down as a family over the holidays.
