Duquesne Head To Feasterville With Their "Dukes" Up

ECRHA  February 12th, 2006 at 6:00AM  February 13th, 2006 12:34AM
The only thing in common with a 1-5 team and a 9-1-2 team is the Duquesne Dukes; because that is their starting and finishing records respectively. After getting embarrassed by Shippensburg and West Chester in their home opener and losing heart breakers to Hofstra, Stony Brook and Drexel in their 2nd tournament, the Dukes said "enough is enough!" From that point on, the only regular season loss they would incur would come at the hands of #1 ranked Suny Brockport in a 3rd period come from behind rally; the only top 3 team that Duquesne has failed to beat in the regular season. Duquesne was successful in going undefeated in the 2nd semester with rematch wins against Hofstra and a red hot Shippensburg team, the Raiders' only loss of an equally, if not more impressive 2nd semester run. Duquesne's only blemish of the 2nd semester was taking a playoff desperate Stony Brook team too lightly yet again for the 2nd time this year in a 5-5 tie. Duquesne awaits next weekend as Maine's finish will determine where the Dukes fall in playoff seeding. The 2006 ECHRA regional playoffs will surely be one for the record books as no team is safe; and to pick the winner is practically like picking a name out of a hat.
