The Wash U Bears are recapturing their form that led them to the Final Four last year in Fort Collins , Colorado . After finishing 3rd in the country last year, Washington University started this past semester by facing off against UMSL twice and SLU. After some early mishaps, the Bears have again showed signs of greatness with a hard-fought win over Truman State . With the addition of world-renowned speedster Josh Matteo, the Bears now feature four of the top offensive weapons in the country. Team captain Jim Jost has scored a staggering 11 power play goals as part of his team-leading 24 goals. Former Boston College ice hockey recruit Tommy Paskvan has shown a combination of incredible puck control and scoring touch and Zane Truman has once again frustrated goaltenders with his booming shot. The Bears also feature a new-look defense with Alex Scheinker (one of the fastest players in the league) paired with freshmen Doug Hyde who brings vast experience as a member of the Hearing Impaired Olympic ice hockey team to compete next year in Sweden . The team is anchored by veteran goaltender Dave Garland who shut down the quick Truman State attack this past Saturday with several spectacular saves including numerous breakaways.

The Bears conclude their regular season next weekend with matchups with Missouri State and SIU Carbondale on Saturday followed by Truman State and Kanas State on Sunday. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Bears will face-off in the regional championships in early March. The Bears are kicking back into high gear and looking to go further than their Final Four finish in Morrisville in April.
