Drexel Teams' ECRHA, NCRHA Seasons Conclude
ECRHA March 10th, 2005 at 6:00AM February 2nd, 2006 2:53PMECRHA Regional championships were held this past weekend, and marked
the end of the year for national and regional play for Drexel's 2
competitive teams.
The Drexel A-team had a slow start to the season, but had a fantastic finish, winning 7 of 9 games, leapfrogging a number of teams in the standings, and notching some impressive wins during the stretch, including RIT, Pitt, and Suffolk. Unfortunately, the prize for that streak was a playoff pool seeding against top ranked Towson, and the very tough Pitt Panthers. The A-team finished 0-2 in pool games, and did not advance to bracket play.
The B-team overcame alot of adversity this season. The team lost roughly half it's rostered players due to injury and other incidents, but still managed a 8-7-3 finish and a double-elimination playoff spot. The team defeated Rutgers, Pitt, and Buffalo along the way, but lost 4-3 to #1 ranked Penn State, and lost 4-3 to runner-up Towson. It was a very solid playoff run for the core of players who made it through the season, and the team\'s second final four playoff appearance in the last two years.
Neither the A or B teams recieved bids to the NCRHA National tournament.
The B-team, C-team, and D-team continue their seasons in the PCRHL, running until the end of April.
