Knights Set Bar High in Fredricksburg
ECRHA November 8th, 2005 at 4:38AMThe #2 ranked Neumann College Knights opened there season this past weekend against #20 ranked Millersville University Marauders looking to avenge last year?s only regular season blemish, and they did just that. The Knights Sean White netted a power play goal just over 2 minutes into the first period and the goals just kept coming. Lead by junior captain Victor Scotto (5 goals) the Knights scored 12 more times before the final buzzer sounded. The Knights showed their balance with nine players scoring goals in the season opener.
In the second game of the season the Knights took on the #5 ranked Drexel University Dragons. The Dragons made waves early in the season defeating the defending ECRHA DII champion Hofstra University Pride 6-3 in an exhibition game. The Knights saw this as an opportunity to make a statement and took full advantage. When all was done the Knights made a huge statement defeating the #5 ranked team in the country 8-0 to earn their second shutout in as many games.
In the last game of the weekend the Knights faced-off against the very capable Temple University Owls. Temple is a team that has frustrated the Knights in the past and the Neumann players knew this. The Knights smothered their opponents with an offensive attack that gave them an 11-0 lead at the end of the second period. In the third period the Knights protected the shutout and scored once more in the process to end the weekend with their third consecutive shutout.
