Maine Prepares for Fourth Season in ECRHA

Maine will look to continue its tradition in the ECRHA and reach its fourth consecutive National Championship Tournament this season. This year's team is almost completely transformed from the team that reached the National semifinals in Anahiem, CA just two years ago. David Hunt, left from that team, will anchor the blue line this season. Besides Hunt, the only other regular from last year's team is forward Carey Gustanski, who will be looked upon to take an even larger role after leading the team in goals as a Freshman. Once again, Maine will be looking to convert many former ice hockey players, a number of them Maine High School products, into successful roller hockey players. Of that bunch, forwards Chris Pendagast, and high school teammates Joel Pepin and Matt Couturier, along with defensemen Jason Eremita, will be instantly inserted into the lineup and expected to contribute immediately. Goaltending could be the biggest question mark as neither Freshmen Greg Weglewski or Sophomore Drew Borkowitz has logged a minute of college roller hockey time. Weglewski, however, does have plenty of experience as he is a former Inline State Champion in High School. Expect Maine to continually improve as the season progresses, and once again make a bid for the 2006 National Championship.
