Following an unblemished 8-0 start to their regular season, Towson was among twenty teams invited to Total Roller Hockey in Wixom, MI from January 7-9, 2005 for the inaugural National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association Winter Cup. The field for the invitational tournament consists of five round-robin groups.  Towson?s pool includes the University of Colorado, University of Illinois, and defending NCRHA Division II champion University of Missouri ? St. Louis.  After three round-robin games, the top twelve seeds will advance to the elimination round.

The ECRHA is well represented at the event, as five other teams from the region will be participating in the tournament:  Rhode Island, Maryland, Drexel, Pittsburgh, and Millersville.

First-year head coach Kevin Murphy expressed excitement at the chance to play interregional games in the middle of the season: ?We?re certainly looking forward to the chance to prove ourselves nationally and establish ourselves as the team to beat this year.? Murphy is no stranger to interregional competition in the NCRHA ? he led Penn State University to the Division I championship game in 2003-2004.  Senior captain Jim Tamburino echoed Murphy?s sentiment: ?The opportunity to play other nationally-ranked teams will help give us some momentum going into next semester?s games.?
