Hofstra Opens With Win Behind Strong Goaltending

Warwick, RI - The Hofstra Pride opened the season with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Syracuse Orange in the first game of the regular season for both squads.
Hofstra rode a strong goaltending performance by Chris Dellavecchia (Whitestone, NY) to have a shot in the shootout.
Dellavecchia stopped 27 of 30 shots, before turning aside all three Syracuse shooters in the shootout.
Syracuse outshot Hofstra in the game 30-14, but couldn't get enough past Dellavecchia.
Richard Boudreau (Garden City, NY) scored the only goal in the shootout for Hofstra.
Hofstra is back in action tonight at 5pm against Cornell (0-1-0).
Syracuse will square off against Boston (0-1-0) at 6pm.
