The DePaul Blue Demons entered the Regional Champions as the #4 seed.  Looking to earn a bid to the NCRHA National Championships they knew they faced a tall order.  The Demons pulled the upset of the weekend in their first game against Akron as they defeated the #1 seed Zips 5-3.  Later that evening it took an OT power play goal to advance them to the final by defeating University of Michigan 4-3. Sunday morning the Wolverines and Buckeyes battled for their chance at the crown while DePaul rested.  OSU scored late in OT to set the matchup.  The bye into the final proved to be crucial for DePaul.  They looked fresh and dictated the pace of the game.  Nate Montgomery kept the Buckeyes in the game despite facing more than twice as many shots as DePaul’s Michael Lewis.  The Blue Demons took a 2-0 lead into the third.  The Buckeyes got on the board with 3 minutes to go and cut the lead to 2-1.  Less than a minute later the Buckeyes would take a tripping penalty and Tyler Murray got his second of the game.  Feeling the game slipping away and running out of time, Ohio State pressed the puck but Lewis made a few key stops and his teammates took advantage of some turnovers on their way to a 5-1 Championship win
